- We collect only what we need to run your account, deliver your purchases and support you.
- We never sell your personal information.
- Card details are handled by Paystack, never by us.
- UniqKnow Invoicing keeps your business data on your own computer, not on our servers.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
1. Who is responsible
Hallo Group (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2024/202529/07), trading as UniqKnow (Uniq Knowledge), is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Our Information Officer is Peane Maponyane, reachable at hello@uniqknow.co.za.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name and email address, and your password, which we store only in scrambled (hashed) form that we can't read.
- Orders: what you bought, the amount, currency, date and the payment reference from Paystack.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
Information collected as you use the site
- Downloads: which products you downloaded and when, so we can show your library and protect our files.
- Sign-in session: a single essential cookie that keeps you signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Preferences on your device: your chosen currency and cart contents are saved in your own browser, not on our servers.
- Basic technical logs: our hosting and security provider may record IP addresses and similar data to keep the site secure and working.
UniqKnow Invoicing
The invoices, clients and figures you enter in UniqKnow Invoicing stay on your own computer, and in the cloud storage folder you choose if you turn on backup. They are not sent to us. To manage subscriptions, our licence service stores only your email address, your Paystack customer and subscription references, your licence key and status, and the names of the computers the licence is activated on.
3. Why we use it
- To create and secure your account, and confirm your email address.
- To deliver your purchases, keep your library and send receipts.
- To manage subscriptions and licences.
- To answer your questions and handle refunds.
- To prevent fraud and unauthorised sharing of our products, for example by adding your email address to downloaded files.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We process your information because it's needed to provide what you asked for, to comply with the law, or for our legitimate interest in running a secure business. We'll only send you marketing emails if you've agreed to receive them, and every such email will let you unsubscribe.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run UniqKnow, and only as much as they need:
- Paystack, to process payments and subscriptions;
- Cloudflare, for website security, hosting services and email routing;
- Google (Gmail), to send account, receipt and support emails;
- our hosting provider, which stores the website and its database.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We never sell or rent your personal information.
5. Information sent outside South Africa
Some of these providers store or process data outside South Africa, including in the United States and Europe. We use established providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to POPIA, as section 72 of the Act requires.
6. How long we keep it
- Account details: for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise it within 30 days.
- Order and payment records: for five years, as South African tax law requires, even if you close your account.
- Support emails: for up to two years after the conversation ends.
7. How we protect it
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, ebook files are only released to signed-in owners through short-lived download links, and access to the admin system is limited to authorised people. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we'll notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
8. Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- ask what personal information we hold about you, and for a copy;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to us processing it, including for direct marketing;
- withdraw consent you've given, at any time;
- complain to the Information Regulator.
To use any of these rights, email hello@uniqknow.co.za from the address on your account. We'll respond within 30 days.
The Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.
9. Children
UniqKnow is intended for business owners and adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
10. Changes
We'll update this policy if the way we handle personal information changes, and show the new date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll let account holders know by email.
